South West Twin Police Precinct

Project Size: 25,000 SF

Under Construction

The City of Memphis, through its Housing and Community Development (HCD) division, is redeveloping 17.42
acres of City-owned, blighted, and abandoned land formerly occupied by the Southwest Twin Drive-In into a vibrant mixed-use community hub. This transformative project will feature a new 25,000 SF  Memphis Police
Department precinct, currently under construction, followed by a police fleet maintenance facility, a new
Memphis Public Library, and the adaptive reuse of the existing pavilion as a community gathering space. The
development is part of a broader, long-term initiative to reinvest in and strengthen the surrounding community.

Working closely with the City of Memphis and the Memphis Police Department, we developed a design
solution that is both contemporary and highly functional, supporting the growing departmental presence in the
Westwood community. The new police station will include a traffic violation bureau, GIB investigators, detective
units, a detention area, training facilities, equipment and evidence storage, a fitness room, locker rooms,
and a community multi-purpose room. A break room with direct access to the community space further
reinforces engagement between officers and residents.

In addition, the precinct incorporates a centrally located essential facility storm shelter, ensuring resilience and
safety for both staff and the public.
